Dear BSMD committee,

I have thoroughly enjoyed the experiences so far as part of the medical dermatology fellowship. I have been using these, both to gain knowledge and skills, and also to further develop my interests in cutaneous Crohn’s disease and hidradenitis suppurativa. I have had the opportunity to attend the a number of clinics so far. I attended Professor Andrew Pink’s severe eczema clinic and clinical trials clinic, where I gained experience in the management of severe eczema but also in the efficient running of clinical trials, which I am using locally in the severe eczema clinic in Glasgow. From attending Dr Laura Savage’s hidradenitis clinic, Leeds, I have had an insight into the benefit patients can receive from such a clinic and have been inspired to strive towards setting something similar up locally. To this end, I have been working with a consultant locally and we plan to start a small hidradenitis clinic which we will develop with time.

I have attended regular combined dermatology-gastroenterology-rheumatology clinics, where I have been involved in the care of severe non-contiguous cutaneous Crohns disease, and will take one of these cases to discuss in the Medical Dermatology Meeting, RCP London, February 2025.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the MDT management of sarcoidosis from Dr Sarah Walsh’s clinic, London.
